WMWS: Macroinvertebrates with Steph Mueller

Bug out with our ongoing community science project - the Bugs in Urban Rivers Project! Join environmental scientist Steph Mueller to dig into the creepy-crawlies that play a vital role in our aquatic environment. Steph Mueller (they/she) is a Natural Resources Specialist with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources’ Coastal Management Program. They bring research and community engagement experience having most recently served as a Pollution Prevention Outreach Assistant with the Illinois-Indiana Sea Grant. Steph is also the volunteer lead for a community science research project in the Chicago River, working in partnership with Chicago-based nonprofit Urban Rivers, where they have trained over 60 community scientists on data collection and analysis. Steph holds a Bachelor’s in Environmental Science with a minor in Geography from DePaul University in Chicago, IL.   Steph’s hands-on workshop will feature the research they’ve been conducting in the Chicago River, and explore how YOU can become a community science contributor!
